As I mentioned on my Instagram (@beautysojourn), my fall lip color is a combination of Mac Nightmoth lip liner and Diva lipstick. Since I posted it a month ago, I’ve started wearing the Nightmoth lip liner alone. I just love the color. I’ve also been half heartedly hoping that Mac also makes a Nightmoth lipstick, but I have really gone searching.
This past weekend, I went down to visit my sister. This woman lives in Sephora buying makeup she has no idea how to use. Why, you might ask? Well just because of course! Lol So she shows me some liquid lip colors she picked up from Kat Von D. One of them, she wasn’t fond of because she had hoped it was more brown. I take a look and just my luck, it’s the EXACT color I wanted! Did I mention it was my birthday too?!?!
It turns out that Kat Von D’s liquid lip in the color Damned is a perfect match/dupe if you want a lip stain the same color as Mac’s Nightmoth.
Henceforth, I will wear this lip combo for the duration of fall! (Except when I wear Mac Cyber! Lol)

Are you having a hard time finding a nude lip colour that will look good on you? Tip: Wear a darker lip liner before you apply your nude lippie (lippie=lip color, whether it be lipgloss or lipstick).
Being a dark skinned woman of color, I felt the nude trend was NOT happening for me. First of all, the nude colors did not match my skin AT ALL! Secondly, I was not about to walk out of my house looking like I just ate powdered donuts and didn’t wipe my mouth. No thank you!
Recently, I’ve been noticing more “woman of color friendly” shades of nude lippies. Since I live to mix colors, I started out by applying one of my dark lipsticks (Cyber: Mac). Then, I started applying the nude lippie to the center of my lips and blending it outward. HELLO hombre lip!! (Who decided to name that feathered look hombre & did they know it meant “man” in Spanish?!)
So fear not beautiful ladies! You can wear nude lip colors…As long as you wear a darker color and blend, blend, blend!
I was in need of a little more color and lashes so I stopped into the drugstore on my way home. Now the plan was to pick up a blush or two and a few new lip colors…yeah, OK 😉
I always pick up at least one pair of these Ardell lashes in 120 Demi. They look great without looking exaggerated. When I want to feel glam, I wear these. I am also looking to try a new pressed powder to set my liquid foundation with and I’ve heard good things about CG Tru blend. Mac studio fix is my default, but I’m trying to branch out.
The Milani lippies look like they have great pigmentation and I need some new colors for spring. Still so much more colors needed to build a kit. I’ve hear the NYX eye pencils are everything to make your eyeshadows pop, so I had to pick up a couple.
Last but not least the Milani Easybrow in Natural Taupe. I love that this has a spooly to comb those unruly brows. I use the liner on my waterline to help me look more “awake”. I’ve always found white liner to be way to bright for me to where anywhere near my face, so this is an awesome alternative. Plus, I saw a video from Coloured Beautiful and she used a non-white liner for the the same effect and she’s the beezknees!
